My research interests include clean combustion and clean energy especially solar energy.
My current research is related to studying the effect of external electric field on flames which has shown promising results in terms of obtaining improved combustion efficiency and reduced emissions. However the flame ionization process and the effect of external electric field are not understood well presently. My work deals with developing in-situ laser diagnostics for measuring ion concentrations in premixed flames. The data obtained from the concentration measurement will be useful for validating proposed numerical models and to improve our understanding of the effect of electrical field on flames.
My previous research was related to improving the heat storage capacity of heat transfer fluids by injecting the fluid with nanosized phase change material (P.C.M.) particles. Heat storage capacity enhancement of heat transfer fluids is important for variety of applications, including solar thermal energy conversion, microchannel heating or cooling, and others. I performed simulations using CFD software FLUENT to investigate the effect of different parameters such as mass flow rate, heat flux and particle volume concentrations of P.C.M. particles on the thermal performance of heat transfer fluid. The results showed a significant improvement in heat storage capacity of heat transfer fluid due to the addition of P.C.M. particles.
